Aeon Aphelion were formed driven by the urge to add yet another spark to the endless pyre of doom metal. In late 2005 George Xenikoudakis (guitar) and Fanis Markonis (voice) decide to revive their 90ies band (then known as Dreamscape), determined to make it work. It took a few years for the band to reach a stable lineup but the pieces started slowly falling into place in June 2007 with the addition of Johnnie Dalamagas (ex Media Vox) on bass guitar. Then in September 2008, John Vaskos (ex Add The River, Damon Systema) becomes the band's new drummer, bringing in his smooth and accurate drumming to further enhance the band's vibe. The quartet began rehearsing and song writing with new vigour and strength until May 2009 when the band finds exactly the kind of guitarist they needed in Alex Koutsis (ex Kerveros). Within the next year the band will make its first live appearances and from summer until autumn 2009, they will enter the studio to record their self-titled 5-song EP.
In May 2010 Fanis Markonis quit the band so guitarist Alex Koutsis took up the vocalist position as well, signifying a turn in the band's musical direction. The quartet started writing new material and having cut off their early doom/death roots, began venturing into more traditional doom metal territory. In July 2012 the time had come for them to put their new ideas on record so they entered the studio and started recording sessions for their debut full-length album. After some obstacles and holdbacks that go hand in hand with a completely self-financed release, the album "Visions of Burning Aeons" was released in October 2013 heralding a new era for Aeon Aphelion...
